L'UNITALSI è un'associazione che da cento anni si occupa di handicap: per intenderci è l'associazione dei "Treni Bianchi" che da sempre rende possibili, grazie ad un cospicuo numero di volontari, i pellegrinaggi nei santuari mariani a persone con problemi fisici molto gravi.
Negli ultimi anni l'associazione si occupa ormai a 360' di disabilità: è presente nella difficile quotidianità dei portatori di handicap dando impulso a tutte le attività che li reintegrino in un ambito sociale che finora li ha fin troppo ignorati.
La sottosezione UNITALSI di Frosinone si è fatta promotrice di attività culturali (visita a musei, partecipazione a spettacoli teatrali, attivazione di una scuola computers) ricreative (concerti, parchi giochi, ecc.), sportive (è stata creata una società sportiva "SPORTIVAMENTE UGUALI" che cura varie attività ginniche per persone portatrici di tutti i tipi di handicap: sensoriale, motorio, psichico), la ROSA BLU,è progetto assistenza bambini con diverse abilità durante i mesi estivi, per cui è stata creata un'oasi specifica nel giardino dell'Episcopio di Frosinone dove i nostri tenerissimi amici hanno goduto di assistenza ed animazione da un folto gruppo di volontari.
Da tre anni ormai si riesce ad organizzare soggiorni al mare per disabili gravi (40 circa gli adulti, 15 circa i bambini). Il primo si è svolto in Versilia a Marina di Pietrasanta, il secondo a Cesenatico, l'ultimo nel 2002 a Tarquinia. Non si può negare che le difficoltà sono tante e abbiamo necessità di sempre più volontari, ma non si può neanche negare la soddisfazione che si prova a condividere con i nostri amici diversamente dotati momenti di autentica libertà lontani dalla ghettizzazione in cui sono troppo spesso lasciati: è sorprendente vedere Gerardo, Ivan e Filippo, portatori di tetraparesi spastica, conquistare in acqua una libertà di movimento incredibile, è come se i loro muscoli, sempre in conflitto con la loro volontà, fossero improvvisamente addomesticati.
